2014 NC CEC Annual Conference
Letter from the President, Rose Marie Matuszny, Ph. D
Thank you to all who were able to attend and/or present at the 2014 NC-CEC state conference. Despite the intense winter weather, we had a great turn out at the Pinehurst Resort and Spa and we shared important information that helped each of us begin the New Year reenergized and more informed! Much thanks to Gina-Marie Little for her leadership in 2013 and to the board for another great conference!" read more..
Conference in review.
Our 27th annual NCCEC Conference was held in Pinehurst again this year. The snowy weather prevented a few speakers and members from attending but we still had a great turn out! The theme through out the conference was “Creating New Horizons.” We all know how important it is to create new learning opportunities to meet the unique needs of our students. The keynote speaker was William Hussey. He currently serves as Director of the Exceptional Children Division North Carolina Public Instruction.
We had a wide range of sessions this year including ways to implement teacher-created materials to support positive behavior in the classroom, how to help students transition from high school to college, using iPads to support the curriculum and behavioral interventions, and using the verbal behavior approach for students with autism spectrum disorders. Thank you everyone for all of your support and efforts in organizing the conference and allowing it to run smoothly. If you couldn’t make it this year we look forward to seeing you next year!
