‘Yes I Can!’ Winners
Bryan Dooley
Bryan Dooley was recently awarded the Council for Exceptional Children’s (CEC) Yes I Can! Award for Technology.
Byran, who has cerebral palsy, attends Reagan High School in Pfafftown, North Carolina.
The Council for Exceptional Children’s Yes I Can! Award honors children and youth with disabilities who have excelled in one of nine categories: the arts, academics, athletics, community service, employment, extracurricular activities, self advocacy, independent living skills and technology.
Since 1982, when the program was initiated, more than 30,000 children and youth have been honored through the Yes I Can Award Program.For more information, go to www.cec.sped.org.
The Yes I Can Foundation for Exceptional Children in an arm of the CEC. As you know, CEC is the premier association for special educators. ECE works to improve the educational success of students with disabilities and/or gifts and talents. The Council represents members serving more than 6.9 million students with disabilities and 2.5 million gifted students.
Bryan has used his technology knowledge to provide training to the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System Occupational Therapy department as well as to demonstrate assistive technology to members of the Winston-Salem Foundation. Bryan accepted his award at the national CEC Conference on April 7th in Salt Lake City, Utah.
